Adaptive Expeditions is super stoked about our 2017 AE Surf Team. Come ride waves all summer long and hang-ten (….or five, or however many toes you happen to have – toes are totally not required!).
The AE Surf Team is all about having fun! If you want to compete in adaptive surfing competitions with us one day, that’s awesome, but you can also keep your involvement competition free. We’ll love ya just the same. AE Surf Team is open to everyone with a physical or sensory disability.
AE surf team events will be small group events focusing on learning how to surf safely, comfortably, and with a high level of performance and independence. AE Surf Team will meet at least twice a month all summer long starting in June. Most events will be on this AE website event calendar, but other events will be spur of the moment text or Facebook blasts to all team members. Don’t feel like surfing that day? Feel free to come read a book under the beach tent – if you’re a team member you might as well enjoy the beach access while it’s set up.
Everyone will need to register only once per season / per year. Your 2017 seasonal registration will cover both clinics and team events. AE Surf Team events are small, focused learning expediences and registrations will be limited to the first 4 team members to let us know by email that they are coming to that session. Please know that we will need at least 24-hour notice before each clinic or event if you need to borrow a board. Simply send us an email. AE Surf Team volunteer base is stoked and ready to go, but you are encouraged to bring along family or friends to help / to surf with. Please give us at least 3 days notice if you need us to arrange AE volunteers. An optional small donation at the time of team registration will help cover costs of gas, surf and beach access equipment, tires on the trailer, drinking water at the events, and etc.

Adaptive Expeditions will also partner on at least three large adaptive surfing events with Coastal Adaptive Sports and Adaptive Surf Project (both of Myrtle Beach). CCPRC will join us as a partner for a September 23rd event at Folly Beach County Park. These are large events where new surfers can get exposure to the sport and experienced surfers can refine skills with peers.
Wheel To Surf Events: (Large group “try-it” days. “Wheel to Surf” is Coastal Adaptive Sports’ surfing program name.)
