Adaptive Expeditions (AE) announces partnership with Gavalas Kolanko Foundation.  AE will coordinate outreach and recruitment for two adaptive sports divisions of the Gavalas Kolanko Foundation’s James Island Connector Race (JICR) — the wheelchair racing division and a new hand-cycling division.

Adaptive Expeditions provided a Gold Level sponsorship for the 2017 James Island Connector Race, and funds were earmarked to create awards for the two adaptive sports race divisions.   AE’s recruitment efforts also include hosting a dinner and social event welcoming and honoring the athletes participating in the two adaptive sports race divisions.

From 6:00pm – 9:30pm on the evening of Friday, October 27th 2017, come out to the James Island home of AE’s Board President to meet the athletes and enjoy an organic spaghetti dinner (sauce with and without meatballs), roast marshmallows over a creekside bonfire, enter the high-stakes corn-hole tournament, and enjoy a sampling of seasonal beers from local breweries.  You can even request a song for the music playlist when you purchase a ticket.

This event is open to everyone, not just race participants.  The $25 donation covers dinner and two drink tickets.  Funds raised will be earmarked to offset expenses for athletes traveling to Charleston to participate in the race and to help grow the two adaptive sports race divisions.

As guests of honor, handcycling and wheelchair racing division athletes receive free entry into the Creekside Social & Dinner.   The Creekside Social & Dinner will be wheelchair accessible on a hard-packed grass yard.  Wheelchair accessible toilets will be available.

Adaptive Expeditions is also hosting a free wheelchair tennis clinic and a free Adaptive Fishing Clinic the same weekend to create additional incentive for people to come to town for the Creekside Social & Dinner and participate in the JICR.  Separate registration required for each.

Athletes can register for the adaptive sports divisions of the JICR through a link on the Creekside Social & Dinner Eventbrite Page.  Athletes participating in the adaptive sport divisions of the race can check-in and pick up their race-packet at the Creekside Social & Dinner.
